The New 'Superbug'

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gave first warning of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) including
Klebsiella species and Escherichia in 2013.  And now in 2015, this bug has been linked with two deaths in Los Angeles. Carbapenem was considered
the last resort for such infections. The 'superbug' is so deadly that it can kill half the patients who contract them. At the moment, the bug affects only patients in hospitals but there is still a threat of it spreading to the streets.
Some CRE strains have been reported that are resistant to all antibiotics . However, some people contract the bacteria without an infection ever breaking out.
With this bug, prevention is definitely much better than cure. Wash hands, sterilize instruments especially those used in invasive procedures.
