Three German doctors died on the spot when a vehicle they were traveling in collided with another vehicle in southern Zambia's Gwembe district, the police told Xinhua on Thursday.
The three German volunteers from an international dentist organization went to the southern part of Zambia and were scheduled to attend to local people with dental problems.
Zambia Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga-Chanda said the accident, which also claimed the life of a local journalist who had accompanied the doctors, occurred when their driver failed to keep to his side and collided with an unregistered construction vehicle.
Local media have identified the German doctors as Franz Mathews, 67, Wolfgufkart Bissbeif, 64 and Hans Boehringer, 55 while the journalist is Priscilla Phakati, from local private-owned Muvi Television.
Road traffic accidents in Zambia are mainly caused by careless driving and the poor state of roads.
May their souls rest in peace!
