"TV fat" in children

Letting kids watch TV for as little as an hour a day could make them overweight or obese as well as gain more unhealthy weight over time, according to a new study from the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

Based on the research, parents are being encouraged to to restrict young children's TV viewing to prevent unhealthy weight gain.

The current recommendation by the American Academy of Paediatrics is to allow kids watch TV for no more than 2 hours a day, but it may soon be amended based on this research.

Childhood obesity carries heavy health risks that often last well into adulthood including heart disease, high blood pressure and depression, amidst other health conditions.

Apparently, recent researches support outdoor activities for kids. It saves their eyesight while keeping them active and fit.
