The angry students closed the campus gate disturbing vehicular movement and chased school security guards out of the premises.
It was reported that about 3 a.m on Sunday night, armed robbers attacked some students who were studying overnight in a mosque brandishing knives, machetes amidst other weapons. The robbers carted away the students' valuables including money, laptops and iPads.
It was alleged that the security operatives in the school ignored the calls of of students for help and detained one student who ran to their station to seek their help.
The students said this is the seventh of such attacks on campus this year and the school security remained porous inspite of the attacks and pleas from students.
A student leader, Folashade Oluwagbemiga said, "academic activities in the school have to be suspended till the authorities resolve the lingering security problems."
The students demands include: the postponement of their exams because most of them lost valuable study materials; justice for their colleague who was unjustly detained by the security operatives; the replacement of their stolen valuables and extension of the time of power supply by the generator.
Meanwhile, a top police official confirmed the robberies and appealed to the students to remain calm and assist in the investigation.
Although the students' demands are fair, I doubt the authorities will replace the stolen valuables.
