Nigerian student dies in India


A 23-year-old Nigerian college student has died under mysterious circumstances in Jaipur , India after he complained of chest pain in his private hostel room.

Police said a postmortem examination of the body will determine the cause of his death although a preliminary investigation ruled out foul play.

According to the police, the deceased, identified as Peter, was a BSc (IT) second year student at NIMS University. He lived in a private hostel in Achrol area with a Nigerian roommate.



His friends and other hostel mates said he vomited in the morning and started complaining of chest pain.

He was then taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, a complete postmortem examination is yet to be conducted as it requires the approval of the Nigerian embassy.

"After getting their approval, we will conduct the post-mortem examination," said a police officer.

The officer said during the preliminary investigation, nothing suspicious was discovered . "It may be due to some grievous health problems or some other reason. We will be able to determine the cause of death only after receiving the post-mortem report," said the officer.
