Imo State Health Workers To Get 10months Salary Arrears

Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has directed that all the health workers in the state be paid their 10 months arrears of salaries including that of December. He explained that the government delayed payment to enable it resolve certain questionable allowances, as well as the issue of nonchalant attitude to work on the part of the health workers.
Okorocha  gave the directive during the end-of-the-year party organised for Government House workers. The governor stated that since 2011, when he became governor, the workers had been paid as at when due until recently when the bad economic situation in the country began to impact negatively on the finances of states’ across the nation.
He said that his love for Imo workers’ influenced his being the first governor to pay N20,000 to workers in the state’s civil service.
He said:   “The truth is that there was never a time the state government intended to owe the health workers in the state. The only thing was that the government was not satisfied with the conduct of the health workers and their poor service delivery to the people of the state, despite the huge amount being spent on the payment of their salaries and allowances."
Witholding salaries for 10months just because of investigations......hmmmmm. All the same, this is a timely announcement for a Merry Christmas!
