PCN To Arrest Erring Pharmacists Nationwide

The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria(PCN) has warned that from January 2016, all erring pharmacists and unregistered pharmacies nationwide will face the council's wrath.

The Council's Registrar, Pharm. Nurudeen Muhammed, disclosed this last week in Abuja at the End-of-Year Media Chat organised by the council.

He said the council will arrest and prosecute all erring pharmacists to serve as a deterrent to others, as well as start the confiscation of products in all unregistered pharmacy stores nationwide.

The registrar added that the agency had observed with deep regret the alarming rate at which several Patent and Proprietary Medicines Vendors(PPMVs) practise pharmacy with substandard and fake pharmaceutical products, to the detriment of the public.

So, the renewed disciplinary efforts are meant to minimise the hazards associated with quacks and reduce counterfeit pharmaceutical products in the market.
