Nigerian doctor opens her own emergency room in USA

Foyekemi Ikyaator, a 31-year-old wife, mother and an emergency room (ER) doctor, has opened up a stand alone full service emergency room, Life Savers Emergency Room, in Houston, TX. A Nigerian native, Foye was practically raised in the U.S and she received her education on a full academic scholarship. .

She studied at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the Emory School of Medicine and Public Health, in Atlanta GA. She then moved to Houston TX. where she gained extensive experience.

Last year, she decided it was time to do what she wanted to do, so in In December 2015, she and her husband opened up a stand alone full service emergency room. A self-proclaimed human rights proponent, the silver lining of Foye is simply helping people.

She says, “In the emergency room you can see between 20 and 30 patients within a shift and there is just enough time to treat them and get them to their next point of care.” Her goal is to provide swift and efficient health care for patients as well as a less bureaucratic work environment for medical professionals.
