The Chief Medical Director, LASUTH, Prof David Adewale Oke said: “So far in LASUTH we have done 16 cases of cochlear implants, of which six was sponsored by the affected victims, while the state government sponsored ten residents.
"Out of these beneficiaries, four were adults while six are children, five males and five females. Four were adults, six are children, five males and five females.
“It is a thing of joy that our home-grown experts carried out these surgeries successfully.”
The surgery, which is the 2nd in series cost the state government N70 million. LASUTH in 2014 in collaboration with Cochlear Foundation in Germany carried out the first–ever cochlear implantation in the country.
