Myomectomy video credit: @celebdr. Thank you very much ππππ.
.
Uterine leiomyomas/fibroids are among the most common problems in African women. They are a frequent cause of pelvic pain and abnormal uterine bleeding and are thought to be involved in infertility.
.
Myomectomy is the surgical removal of fibroids from the uterus. It allows the uterus to be left in place and, for some women, makes pregnancy more likely than before.
.
In general, myoma/fibroid growth is a result of the stimulation of estrogen, which is present until menopause. Many myomas begin to shrink as menopause removes the estrogen stimulation and many myoma-related symptoms resolve spontaneously shortly after menopause.
