Incredible Plastic Surgery

I've come across this picture so many times and wondered about the story behind the picture. Now I know and in case you were wondering like me; it goes thus:πŸ‘‡πŸΎπŸ‘‡πŸΎπŸ‘‡πŸΎ

.
"This is Eric Moger, 60. He developed an aggressive squamous cell carcinoma on his face and by the time it was discovered it was quite advanced. In order to remove the whole tennis-ball sized tumor, surgeon Dr. Nicholas Kalavrezoz, had to remove almost the entire left side of Moger's face--including his left eye, his cheekbone, and most of his jaw. It left the inside of his mouth exposed.πŸ˜• It was impossible for him to eat and drink normally so he had a stomach tube put in.
.

He also had to hold his jaw in order to speak. Dr. Andrew Dawood, a dental surgeon in London, uses 3D printing to replicate his patient's jaws so he can practice surgical procedures on them. Mr. Moger went to Dr. Dawood and had a 3D printed mask constructed for him made of toughened nylon. A few titanium rods were implanted into Eric's brow and jawbone and the mask is secured to the rods by magnets. This mask, of course, changed his life! "When I had that first glass of water using the prosthetic face, nothing came out--it was amazing," Eric said. So awesome!πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
