Hospitals to post their prices online

Did you know that there is a new law that went into effect January 1 that requires hospitals to post prices for their services online?

But one medical professional says what you find on your screen isn't the final answer on your bill.
"Just because a rate is published that doesn't mean that's what a consumer would end up paying, because it all links back to their insurance," says Rae Bond, CEO of the Chattanooga - Hamilton County Medical Society.

On social media, the price sheets are getting mixed reviews. While some people are excited that they can now plan their hospital expenses, others are not so enthusiastic. One person said, "This isn't going to tell patients anything. Instead insurance companies should post publicly what they will actually pay for a service and how much of that will be patient responsibility."

Are you in support of hospitals publishing their price list? Let's hear from you.
