Testicular torsion

📍Testicular torsion happens if the testicle rotates on the spermatic cord. This twisting of the cord causes the blood supply to the testes to stop, accompanied by sudden, severe pain, swelling, nausea, and vomiting.
.
If the torsion is prolonged, it can lead to the death of the testicle and surrounding tissues.
.
Making a diagnosis fast in this condition is very important to prevent irreversible damage to the testes is important. This can be done with a physical examination and confirmed by color Doppler ultrasonography.
.
Clinical diagnosis can be made using the  TWIST (Testicular Workup for Ischemia and Suspected Torsion) scoring system TWIST consists of the following urological history and physical examination parameters:
Testis swelling (2 points)
Hard testis (2)
Absent cremasteric reflex (1)
Nausea/vomiting (1)
High-riding testis (1)
Below 2 points are low-risk patients and above 5 pints are high-risk patients.

Treatment is immediate manual detorsion followed by surgery.
