HOW TO TREAT A DIAPER RASH

As a Mum, it's normal to worry if your baby gets a diaper rash, but here are few simple things to try at home to treat and prevent diaper rash.

1. Change dirty diapers as soon as possible, even if it is just wet. Doing this will reduce the skin's exposure to moisture which can worsen a diaper rash.

2. Apply a zinc oxide diaper cream with each diaper change. Zinc can speed up skin healing, soothe the skin, and calm the itching.

3. Be gentle when cleaning the diaper area. You don't want to irritate the skin more.  If the rash is severe, use a squirt bottle of water to clean the area, as doing so is gentler to the skin.

4. Keep the skin dry. Better still, let your child go diaper-free as long as possible to let the skin dry and heal

5. See a doctor. If your child has a fever, blisters, pus that drains from the rash, a rash that does not go away or worsens, is in pain or is hard to console, it could mean they have a severe skin infection.
